Glad you found your way here!
So what is the CBA? The CBA, in a nutshell, is the single greatest resource you have as a law student. The CBA is the largest lobbying group for lawyers in Canada, and works for the benefit of all lawyers across the country, and for law students. They keep tabs on legislation relevant to the legal profession, make recommendations to the Provincial and Federal governments, and act as intervenors in those cases that they feel have an important effect, or issue.
Not only is the CBA the largest lobbying group for lawyers in Canada, it also is one of your best resources for networking. There are Provincial Council meetings that occur once every 3 months, where between one and two hundred lawyers get together in Vancouver to talk about current issues facing the profession, socialize and network. Law students like you are welcome to attend these meetings, provided you give your CBA Liaison about a weeks notice so that they can notify the CBA the number of students that will be in attendance.
Finally, the CBA is here for you! They are here to offer you support on your path into becoming a lawyer. They want you to succeed! They want to support the school, support your studies, and try and make your life as easy as possible. They want you to meet lawyers in the fields that interest you, and they want to see you become the next greatest lawyer in Canada.
Come find your CBA Liaison and chat with them! See what the CBA has to offer, and get an opportunity to network like never before.
