Each year, the Thompson Rivers University Society of Law Students (“SLS”) hosts a student-led conference focused on a developing or significant area of law. This year, we are pleased to present a conference themed Mining and Critical Minerals: Navigating Law, Policy, and Practice.

We are excited to invite the TRU and broader Kamloops community to join us on February 26, 2026, on the TRU campus for a full day of discussion and learning.

The conference will feature speakers addressing a wide range of issues across the life cycle of a mine, offering practical insight into the regulatory, environmental, and operational considerations facing mine developers, operators, and supporting industries. Drawing on real world experience, speakers will explore how legal frameworks intersect with industry practice and policy decision making.

This conference provides a valuable opportunity for students and the TRU Law community to deepen their understanding of mining and critical minerals law beyond the classroom. Attendees will gain practical insight into how lawyers support clients through complex regulatory approvals, ongoing operations, and evolving legal obligations throughout the life of a project.

Please note that attendance is free, but please RSVP to reserve your spot. All TRU students are welcome and encouraged to attend.

We look forward to seeing you there!
